PARISH COUNCIL

GREAT NEWS. The 8 affordable houses in St Giles have the go ahead. The planning application was passed on 29th April with funding secured. The site manager is Mr. Joe Ford and work commenced on 17th May with an anticipated finish time February 2011.

At present all houses are for rent but if there is enough evidence to show the need, some could be redirected to shared ownership.

To see if you qualify and wish to apply for one of these homes you will need to ring Torridge District Council Tel: 01237 428700 and ask for Housing options.

SEEKERS IN JUNE

Our dates for SEEKERS in June are the 13th and 27th. The 27th is also the Revel Service at Roborough so do go and join in if you want to, but we will still hold SEEKERS for those whose families are coming to the Communion Service at St.Giles and anyone else who would like to come. We meet at 10.45 in the chapel at St. Giles Church. We may even be able to migrate outside if we have good weather!

TIDDLERS

Tiddlers has moved to the third Wednesday in the month, so will be on June 16th. This is a Toddler Group with, among other things: bible story, craft, play, coffee and chat held at the Meeting Point in High Bickington beginning at 10 o'clock. We are following on with a picnic lunch in June. Anyone with pre-school children is very welcome. We come from far and wide. Phone Anna(01805 622161) or Helen (01769 560870) if you have any questions.

CHURCH CLEANING

Thank you to all who helped on the cleaning day. We made a good start. If you have a passion for polishing or would like to help in any way, inside or out, we still have things we need to do. Thanks to those who have offered their muscle-power. We will let you know when we are ready to move the double glazing and old organ. We are still struggling to find a sensible way to dispose of them.

COFFEE MORNING

There will be a coffee morning beginning at 10.30am on June 23rd in the chapel at St.Giles - outside if it is sunny and warm. Look forward to seeing you there. Baked goods and raffle prizes gratefully received!

St Giles Sports Club MUSICAL EVENING with a barbeque plus hot pork rolls with all the trimmings. 7.30pm on 12th June. Also England World Cup on the big screen. All proceeds in aid of Devon Air Ambulance. (Donations for the draw would be greatly appreciated)
